What is the relationship between the AMBER™ Program and AmberAlert.com?

There is no direct relationship between the AMBER™ Program and AmberAlert.com. The AMBER™ Program is coordinated nationally by the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) and supported by The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), visit www.amberalert.gov and www.missingkids.com, respectively. AmberAlert.com is a privately-held company providing support to state AMBER™ Programs by providing the Law Enforcement Alerting Portal, LEAP, at no cost.

The DoJ and NCMEC are the authorities on the AMBER™ Program. AmberAlert.com is a technology company supporting the program by providing our LEAP technology to state law enforcement agencies and AMBER™ Controlling agencies at no cost. Additionally, AmberAlert.com developed an innovative child identification device, My Child ID™, to help parents and guardians safeguard the world their children live and play in.

While the My Child ID™ was developed to address the DoJ requirements for “sufficient descriptive information,” to issue an AMBER™ Alert, neither the DoJ nor NCMEC endorse AmberAlert.com, our products or services, or any other commercial product in relation to the AMBER™ Program.

Is AmberAlert.com a government entity?

No. AmberAlert.com is a privately held technology company providing alerting technology and services to law enforcement agencies for the issuance of AMBER™ alerts.

Is AmberAlert.com a not-for-profit or 501(c)3?

No, AmberAlert.com is a for-profit endeavor. AmberAlert.com was founded under the principle that providing value to customers, partners, employees and shareholders can be achieved successfully and with integrity through the alignment of our Core Values and our Mission.

Who owns AmberAlert.com ?

AmberAlert.com is privately held by AA, LLC of Phoenix, Arizona.

How long has this group owned and operated AmberAlert.com?

AmberAlert.com was acquired in March 2008 from Global Alerts of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Does AmberAlert.com receive any type of grant or taxpayer money?

No. AmberAlert.com is funded solely through business revenue and neither seeks nor accepts any type of grants, state or federal funding.

How does AmberAlert.com generate operating revenue?

AmberAlert.com relies on revenue generated from the sale of the My Child ID.

How does AmberAlert.com sell the My Child ID™?

Currently, the My Child ID™ is only available via www.AmberAlert.com.

Does AmberAlert.com charge State Law Enforcement Agencies for its alerting technology and support services?

No. AmberAlert.com provides the Law Enforcement Alerting Portal (LEAP) technology, along with service, support, training and maintenance, to State Law Enforcement Agencies at no cost.

What states utilize the AmberAlert.com alerting portal?

AmberAlert.com is the Primary Alerting Partner for Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Rhode Island, Oregon and Washington. AmberAlert.com is a Secondary Alerting Partner nationwide. Individuals can sign up to receive AMBER™ Alerts from AmberAlert.com nationwide.

Is there a charge for set up or training for the states?

No. AmberAlert.com sets up the systems, and provides training, maintenance and technical support at no cost.

If AmberAlert.com is a for-profit company, why doesn’t it charge for the alerting portal?

Providing the alerting portal at no cost is the most important and valuable way we can contribute to the AMBER™ Program. First and foremost, our goal is to help keep children and families safe.

What tech support is available for L.E.A.P.?

AmberAlert.com provides 24-hour live technical support for both the training environment and the operational/live portal used for alerting.

Does AmberAlert.com plan to expand to other states?

Yes. It is our goal to become the Primary Alerting partner for every state.
