There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of informational web sites, pamphlets , brochures, tips, books, videos and more with advice on how to keep children safe; most offer constructive suggestions for helping safeguard the world children live and play in.

The AmberAlert.com Team offers one … Be ALERT!

Safety Tips:

When visiting densely populated areas, such as the mall, parks, amusement parks, etc.

  • Keep children in your line of site
  • Take a picture of them and keep it in your phone
  • Dress them in bright clothing so you can easily spot them
  • Talk to little children about remaining close to you
  • With older children, have a plan of action in case you become separated

When children participate in activities, through school or extracurricular, know the group leaders and other parents

  • Familiarize yourself with everyone who is involved and exchange contact information
  • Participate in events if possible

If your children are ever home alone for an extended period of time have set-up check-in times

  • Have them call when they get home from school, and again sporadically for the period of time they are alone
  • Make sure they know never to tell anyone who calls they are alone
  • Make sure they know not to let anyone in the house without an approved adult present

These are just some basic safety tips we offer as a reminder, you are the expert on how to best keep your children and family safe; AmberAlert.com is here to support you. Learn more about My Child ID™ and how it can help organize, manage and store your children’s information for quick and easy access.

Should you decide not to keep a My Child ID ™ or some other child identification device, be sure you keep the following minimum information updated and accessible:

  • Current picture (update with haircuts and significant changes to appearance)
  • Vital Statistics:
    • Height
    • Weight
    • Eye Color
    • Body Type
    • Identifying marks
  • List of possible locations:
    • Friends, Neighbors, School, etc.
  • Have a “secret word” for your child. A secret word is a word ONLY you and your child know. This will help your child verify whether someone they don’t know has your permission to be around them.

Like life, children don’t come with an instruction manual, all you can do is be prepared; AmberAlert.com is here to help.
